What’s the difference between SOGEA, FTTC and FTTP?
SOGEA offers a cost-effective and reliable broadband solution without the need for a traditional phone line, making it a simpler and quicker option to install compared to FTTP (Fibre to the Premises) and legacy WLR/FTTC (Wholesale Line Rental/Fibre to the Cabinet).
While FTTP provides the highest speeds and reliability by delivering fibre directly to your premises, it is generally more expensive and takes longer to install.
On the other hand, FTTC uses a combination of fibre and copper, resulting in moderate speeds and reliability, but it still requires a traditional phone line which is soon to be outphased with the Great British Switch Off.
SoGEA strikes a balance by offering speeds similar to FTTC without the need for a phone line, making it a future-proof choice as the UK transitions away from traditional landlines. This makes SoGEA an attractive option for those seeking an efficient and affordable broadband service.
