The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service is one of the busiest fire and rescue services in the UK, serving nearly two million people.

Silversands, now part of the Chess Group, has been providing Microsoft-focused consultancy and support to Hampshire & IoW Fire & Rescue Service since 2019. 

 

The Challenge

The Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service and Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service have historically been separate organisations. In order to gain operational and budgetary benefits, a decision was made to merge the two organisations.

As a trusted partner, Silversands was asked to help with the migration of Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint and Teams from the IoW systems into the Hampshire environment.  This involved working with the Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service, the Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service and the Isle of Wight Council.

The Solution

Starting just before the first Covid lockdown, the project team had to quickly adjust their implementation approach to accommodate the various restrictions and constraints.
