The Business Challenge

With an existing relationship with Chess, this Housing Association came to us to look to add to an existing range of Sophos products they had in place. Having dealt with Chess for a number of years, we were their first choice to help further protect their infrastructure.

Due to a small in-house team, their core business challenge was being able to always protect themselves 24/7. The main concern was 'what happens if there is a security vulnerability or breach after business hours, and over weekends and bank holidays.'

They had options to recruit internally and run the newly expanded team 24/7 or, find a partner and solution who could deliver that managed response for them, regardless of the time or day of the week.

The Solution

Having approached Chess with these challenges, they were able to engage in conversations with both Chess and Sophos, as well as go through a series of demos to ensure they got the required solution. Once various options had been looked into and commercials discussed, they decided Sophos MTR (Managed Threat Response) was the right solution for them.

Based on the business challenge, the solution needed to be implemented as soon as possible to ensure they were protected around the clock. Additionally, with the Christmas period fast approaching and the closure of the business for a week, they required the solution to be in place quickly for peace of mind over this period.

Once a purchase order was agreed and sent across, Sophos were able to implement the solution on the same day, providing them immediate protection against any threat.

The Outcome

Sophos MTR provides them with more information across their infrastructure and the protection level they required. MTR has since shown some activity which came back as false positives. This, however, allowed the Housing Association to see the worth of the product and that it is effective in protecting them and giving them peace of mind.

They have also used the MTR service to ask questions and add additional expertise into their team for any support required.

Chess provides a 360 service to consult, deliver, adopt and support. By using this approach Chess were able to ensure Sophos MTR was a suitable solution for this Housing Association's needs, and deliver the solution in full, whilst working in partnership with their in-house team and providing continued support.
