Financial Controller

We’re looking for an experienced Financial Controller to join our growing Finance team.

Location: Hybrid Working |    Business Area: Finance |    Salary: Up to £75k, dependent on experience

Reporting into the Group Finance Director, the Financial Controller is a key member of the Senior Management Team and will be responsible for the production of the monthly management accounts and Board reporting, in addition to playing a key role in leading the annual audit and ensuring best in class financial controls.

The Role:

Monthly Reporting

  • Responsible for the production of the Chess Group Management Accounts.
  • Monthly reporting of performance of key metrics against budget.
  • Key product trend and variance reporting.
  • Monthly cashflow forecasts.
  • Monthly balance sheet reviews.

External Reporting

  • Preparation of statutory accounts and liaison with auditors, driving previous recommendations into working practices.
  • Assistance with Company Secretarial duties including Annual Returns and Share Capital transactions.
  • Corporation Tax and VAT compliance + reporting.

Acquisitions

  • Involvement in acquisition financial due diligence.
  • Drive financial integration of acquisitions.
  • Preparation of initial and ongoing accounting entries for acquisitions e.g. intangible asset valuation, deferred consideration calculation.

Efficiency & Quality

  • Develop and strengthen Financial Controls.
  • Improving the efficiency of the management accounting processes.
  • Internal audit key contact.
  • Act as ‘One process’ lead in Finance, working with Group FD, CFO and COO to drive efficiency.

Leadership

  • Inspire, Guide, Motivate and Focus the Finance team, building a best-in-class team.
  • Business Partnering multiple stakeholders, including Board Members.
The Candidate:
  • Pro-active, highly motivated individual who is committed to accuracy and strives for success.
  • +5 Years PQE with strong technical background (ACCA/ACA).
  • Strong system knowledge and experience of implementing process improvements.
  • Good techincal accounting knowledge.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills – especially Excel.
  • Thorough approach and high attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to present financial information clearly.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills.
Package Details

Salary details: Up to £75k, dependent on experience

Hours: A standard week is 37½ Monday to Friday

Allowing you to enjoy the flexibility of working from home whilst also having the option to
work from one of our many local hubs spread throughout the UK. Ad-hoc travel to offices
within the group and other locations may be required on occasion.
